| Kirstin Murray was educated in Angus, Scotland and studied law at Edinburgh University, during which she combined her law degree with French language and French law. She then practised as a court lawyer in Edinburgh for 6 years. |

| Her great passion for acting led her to resign as a lawyer in 2000 to study for a BA in acting at QMUC, Edinburgh. She graduated with distinction in 2004 and as Spotlight Award nominee for the same year. |
|
| Since graduating she has had diverse roles in television, radio and in theatre. |
|
These have included hospital consultant, Dr Sawyer, in BBC's River City and the creature of Crony Palone in a physical theatre production for Cat In a Cup Theatre Company, Such is Nature, where she was able to indulge in her passion for music by playing flute. |

| She has also used her skills in French playing Hélène in an adaptation of Val McDermid’s book, The Distant Echo for BBC Radio 4. |
